Al-Quds University Water Reuse Policy

Purpose To maximise water reuse across all campuses of Al-Quds University to conserve water resources, mitigate environmental impact, and foster sustainable water management.

Scope This Policy covers every Mass University, including academic buildings, residential quarters, administrative offices, and every outdoor space.

Policy Objectives

  1. Lessen the consumption of freshwater resources by increasing use of recycled and reclaimed water.

  2. Introduce, in every operational module, water-saving steps and procedures.

  3. Encourage the entire university community to participate in water-saving initiatives.

  4. Adhere to all local and national environmental legislation regarding the use and recycling of water.

Water Reuse Strategies

  1. Infrastructure Creation: Develop the needed water collection, treatment, and reuse systems. This entails building water recycling systems, establishing rainwater harvesting systems, treated greywater systems, and other water reuse systems.

  2. Landscape Water Management: Practice the use of water-wise plants in landscaping and create water efficiency in irrigation that is primarily recycled or rain resilient.

  3. Awareness and Educational Programs: Design and deliver water-saving initiatives and programs directed to all users of the university to be water reconfigured and reclaimed-focused.

  4. Research and Innovative Water Management: Sponsor and initiate research work in the areas of water-saving, re-use, recycled reclaimed water systems, and other sustainable water management initiatives.

  5. Working with Water Management Experts: Partner with district water agencies, local and regional environmental organizations, and water management specialists for practice and innovation in water reuse.

  6. Routine Monitoring and Documentation: Systematize the routine monitoring, documentation, and reporting of water usage and reuse on campus. Conduct annual assessments of the reports and highlight progress and areas needing improvement.

  7. Management of Sustainable Facilities: In all university managed facilities, the use and adoption of water efficient and water conserving fixtures, appliances, and operational practices will be encouraged, in addition to the implementation of water efficient practices.

Implementation of the policy will be managed by a Water Management Committee on the policy’s compliance coordination with other university administrative units.

Review The policy aims to incorporate the use of new innovative technologies, environmental practices, and standards in practice since it is reviewed annually adapted.
