SDG 1 (No Poverty) Progress
The integrated education, research, innovation, and community empowerment model deployed by Al-Quds University continues to yield positive results for SDG 1 (No Poverty) 2025 target. Al-Quds University has reinforced initiatives to strengthen its scholarships and aid programs for students from economically disadvantaged families to secure educational opportunities.
The University has built from previous years and advanced research strategic initiatives for the University to become a generator and a provider of evidence-based recommendations to inform local and national plans for the integration of the poor and poverty eradication. University initiatives for the development of essential skills, training for entrepreneurship, and employability were deepened to prepare students and community members for economically resilient and job-ready individuals.
Al-Quds University has a positive role and impact on self- and community resilience and the fostering of inclusive Palestinian community growth. The Center for Community Development promotes and supports novel social-economic initiatives and sustainable, socially innovative, and economically sustainable practices in the community, focusing on poverty alleviation and livelihood development in Palestine.
Goal 1 seeks to eradicate all forms of poverty by 2050, provide social protection for the most disadvantaged, and expand access to basic services. It also addresses support for those affected during crises of politically motivated violence and extreme socio-economic and environmental shocks and disasters.
Al-Quds University appreciates the need for poverty alleviation and its impact on building a more equitable and sustainable future. The University also contributes to the SDG 1 focus on education, research, and community engagement.
Educational Access: Al-Quds University is primarily committed to equitable educational access and educational equity for each socio-economic group. The university’s dedication is reflected in the availability of targeted scholarships and financial aid, as well as assistance with tuition students coming from financially marginalized families. The educational aid contributes to poverty alleviation, and the educational access enables students to upgrade their socio-economic status.

The innovative and newly created entrepreneurial opportunities promote economic growth and the reduction of the poverty levels.
Al-Quds University’s approach to SDG 1 incorporates more than just offering educational services. The University involves itself in transformative activities such as poverty-focused research, skills development, community outreach, social entrepreneurship, and social community initiatives. Al-Quds seeks to aid in poverty alleviation in Palestine by supporting micro and small community businesses. Al-Quds University assists financially and offers resources and tools to help families start businesses, especially sustainable, poverty alleviating projects. Al-Quds University also assists families in poverty by providing material aid like clothes, food, furniture, medicines, school supplies, and health supplies. This aid seeks to help families cope with poverty.
