The purpose of this Recycling Program is to promote waste reduction and responsible waste management at Al-Quds University by encouraging recycling practices among students, faculty, staff, and administration. The program aims to reduce the university’s environmental impact, conserve natural resources, and create a more sustainable campus.
Scope
This program applies to all buildings, facilities, and outdoor spaces owned, leased, or operated by Al-Quds University, as well as all university-sponsored events and activities, both on and off-campus.
Recycling Program Components
A. Recycling Infrastructure
- Provide clearly labeled recycling bins in strategic locations throughout the campus, including classrooms, offices, residence halls, and outdoor spaces.
- Implement recycling systems for different types of waste, including paper, plastic, glass, metal, and organic materials.
- Coordinate with local recycling facilities and waste management companies to ensure proper collection, transportation, and processing of recyclable materials.
B. Education and Awareness
- Develop and implement educational campaigns and materials to inform the university community about recycling guidelines and practices.
- Organize workshops, seminars, and training sessions on waste reduction and recycling techniques.
- Encourage students, faculty, and staff to actively participate in the recycling program and adopt responsible waste management practices.

C. Waste Reduction and Reuse

- Implement a double-sided printing policy and promote paperless communication to minimize paper waste.
- Support the establishment of a campus reuse center for exchanging, donating, or repurposing unwanted items.
- Organize regular waste audits to identify opportunities for waste reduction and recycling improvements.
D. Special Recycling Programs
- Develop and implement specialized recycling programs for electronic waste, batteries, and hazardous materials, ensuring proper handling and disposal.
