Creating environments for convergence
The physical environment can serve as a significant driver of innovation. Interdisciplinary research can be conducted in ‘shared spaces,’ where users can make use of state-of-the-art tools, and where researchers can interact and exchange ideas, even if they are from different research domains.
Research Facilities at Al-Quds University
Al-Quds University designs and builds cutting-edge specialized state-of-the-art facilities tailored to multidisciplinary teams. These hubs are equipped with:
- Core Research Laboratories: Centrally managed laboratories with sophisticated scientific tools and instruments of a given scientific discipline (e.g., imaging, data visualization, and molecular analysis laboratories).
- Flexible Collaborative Zones: These are modular and configurable spaces for collaborative work, brainstorming, seminars, and project planning, and they go beyond the boundaries of the private laboratory concept.
- Open Access Resources: A centralized data repository, as well as high-performance computing (HPC), are available and accessible to all researchers linked to the IRU grant.
- The university centralizes and streamlines research and saves research funds to promote and foster a culture of shared research curiosity.
