Our sustainability endeavors are led by Dr. Hanna Abdel Nour, the Vice President for Development and Planning. Dr. Nour provides strategic leadership and oversight, ensuring that sustainability objectives are aligned with our institutional vision and effectively integrated into all aspects of university operations. Under Dr. Nour’s leadership, diverse teams and committees work collaboratively to implement, monitor, and advance our sustainability initiatives.
One of these key groups is the Sustainable Development Committee, which comprises ten professors from various disciplines. The Committee plays a crucial role in evaluating and updating our sustainability practices and policies. Their interdisciplinary expertise allows us to approach sustainability from multiple perspectives and incorporate best practices from various fields. Their work includes the development of strategic action plans, the implementation of sustainability-focused projects, and the continuous monitoring and evaluation of our initiatives.
Complementing the work of the Committee is the University’s Data and Ranking Department. This specialized team is responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to our sustainability performance. The information they gather, which includes everything from energy use to waste production, is crucial for tracking our progress, informing our decisions, and ensuring transparency and accountability in our sustainability practices.
The role of the Legal Department is equally significant in our sustainability journey. Their function is to ensure our sustainability policies are compliant with local, national, and international regulations. They also provide legal advice and guidance on various sustainability initiatives, ensuring that they adhere to the highest ethical and legal standards.
Additionally, the Quality Assurance Department works diligently to ensure the excellence and effectiveness of our sustainability initiatives. They monitor and evaluate all aspects of our operations from a sustainability perspective, using stringent benchmarks to measure performance and drive improvements.
